regulations for hand luggage
As a consequence of several attempted terrorist attacks on planes, the European Union introduced new regulations for hand luggage containing fluids in 2006. This has been decided to prevent liquid explosives from being brought onto planes. Despite diverse discussions surrounding these regulations, the regulations are still valid and obligatory for every passenger.
For flights going out of the EU, several measures of safety are to be followed. A part of these measures are, among others, the regulations of how hand luggage containing liquids has to be dealt with. Any liquids, such as drinks, crèmes or gels need to be filled into containers beforehand that hold a maximum of 100ml. These containers should be placed in a resealable and transparent bag that holds a maximum of one litre. When choosing a bag, it is to keep in mind that the bag has to contain an integrated zipper, because an attached rubber band or clip is not admissible. For each passenger, one of those bags is allowed, and they need to be showed separately at the security check.
An exception of this regulations are only medicine as well as baby food.
